A Walk Through Time

Tavira is more than just sunshine and sea breezes—it's a place where the past lives beautifully in the present. This charming town invites you to slow down and enjoy centuries-old stories etched into cobbled streets, Moorish doorways, and quiet courtyards.

Start your walking journey in the heart of the old town at Ponte Romana—Tavira’s iconic Roman bridge. From there, wander past traditional tiled facades and quaint cafés to reach Igreja da Misericórdia, a 16th-century church known for its intricate blue azulejos and peaceful interior.

Climb up to Castelo de Tavira, where medieval walls and towers offer panoramic views of the town and the river below. Just outside the castle, stroll through Jardim do Castelo, a serene garden perfect for a shady break.

If you have time, visit Convento da Graça, now a charming pousada, where you can enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace while taking in the atmosphere of this former convent.

Hidden Viewpoint: After visiting the castle, follow the small path behind Igreja de Santiago to a tucked-away bench with one of the best views in Tavira—perfect for watching the rooftops glow at sunset.
