Why Casa Vida Pura?
Casa Vida Pura”—the “House of Pure Life”—is more than just a name. To us, it reflects the effortless grace, heartfelt warmth, and peaceful spirit that flow through this home and the town we fell in love with. It’s more than a place to stay; it’s a feeling, a rhythm, a way of life we hope stays with you long after you leave.

Tavira stole our hearts with its timeless beauty, rich culture, and easy pace. Just beyond the door, you’ll wander cobblestone streets lined with cafés, local shops, and ancient doors that seem to whisper stories from another time. Sun-drenched beaches beckon nearby, and the town’s vibrant traditions and live music make every season unforgettable.

Portugal holds deep meaning for us for two very personal reasons.

Years ago, Gene and I met in high school, parted ways for a decade, and eventually found our way back to each other to build a life together—a life now more than 30 years in the making. Alongside our two adult children and our circle of beloved family and friends, we’ve shared countless experiences and continue looking forward to many more. Together, we chose to hold onto this town as a place close to our hearts—a place where we envision bringing our growing family together and creating new chapters in the story of our lives. Portugal is our enduring home, forever connected to the path we’ve walked and the future we envision.

The second reason is even more deeply rooted. Returning to Portugal felt like honoring the legacy of my paternal grandmother in ways I never expected. She was a quiet, proud woman who expressed her love through food—especially her handmade pastries, like the beloved pastel de nata. I didn’t realize how familiar Portugal would feel until I caught the sweet, warm aroma of that iconic custard tart and was instantly transported to her kitchen. I carry her grace and heritage with me, and we hope you’ll take a moment to savor one during your stay—it’s a taste of Portugal you won’t forget.
